Our History
Moonlight Piano Studios was established in 1996. We specialize in offering private music instruction to students in the Upstate of South Carolina. Our premium services provide musicians of all ages and levels, engaging education, inspiring mastery of the music. We have the capability and the expertise to teach from beginning to advanced students helping them on their journey to become professional, independent musicians.
Our Philosophy
At Moonlight Piano Studios we believe that music is a journey with no destination. Our goal is to help you become a musician who is able to express themselves through music, whether that is on a stage in front of everybody, or at home by yourself. It doesn't matter if you are an expert, of if you struggle with playing music; we meet you at your level to help you grow your skill and build your self-esteem. Regardless of what level you are at; the individual aspect of each of our lessons is tailored to your needs.
Our Teachers
Caroline Starling
Caroline is an alumna of the Greenville Fine Arts Center’s Vocal Program, where she developed her passion for vocal performance during high school. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music Industry from Francis Marion University, with a minor in Theatre, and later earned a Master of Music in Opera Performance from Converse University.
Her love of theatre began in elementary school, and she has been actively involved in both community and professional theatre ever since. Her performance credits include The Fantasticks, Cats, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Mozart’s The Impresario, and the operatic adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale with Glow Lyric Theatre.
In addition to theatre, Caroline regularly performs recitals and is a frequent guest artist at Greer Memorial Methodist Church. Her performance experience includes auditioning and performing throughout the United States and Europe, as well as Southeastern recital tours in 2024 and 2026.
Caroline has been teaching voice since completing her master’s degree in 2023. She has a particular passion for audition preparation and has successfully helped students earn principal roles in musical theatre productions.
With her background in classical music, opera, musical theatre, and performance, Caroline is passionate about helping students strengthen their vocal technique, prepare for auditions, build confidence, and become stronger, more expressive singers.
Ms. Sharon Cook
Sharon, the founder of Moonlight Piano Studios, has taught pianists and flutists for over 20 years and is active in the community as both a performer and accompanist. She has a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance and a Masters Degree in Psychology, Psychiatry, and Neuroscience from King's College of London. She enjoys teaching music to students of all ages and walks of life, including those identifying as neurodivergent, whether it is through the use of creative techniques to help young musicians grow or by helping advanced students focus on musicality, proper technique, competitions, and self-expression. She is a mother to two children and has two dogs and two cats. During her free time she and her girls can be found outdoors trying out some new adventure, including (but not limited to) biking, camping, white-water rafting, and riding horses.
